Robert Arneson was an American sculptor and ceramicist. He was a cartoonist for a local newspaper before he went on to study at California College of the Arts. He was a ceramics professor at UC Davis for nearly three decades. While he was there, he established the ceramic sculpture program. His work is in major institutions around the world such as the Chicago Art Institute, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in D.C., the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in D.C.
